چکیده

The concept of GRASS (Geographic Resources Analysis Support System) as an open system has created a favorable environment for integration of process based modeling and GIS. To support this integration a new generation of tools is being developed in the following areas: a) interpolation from multidimensional scattered point data, b) analysis of surfaces and hypersurfaces, c) modeling of spatial processes, d) 3D dynamic visualization. Examples of two applications are given-spatial and temporal 1 modeling of erosion and deposition, and multivariate interpolation and visualization of nitrogen concentrations in the Chesapeake Bay.

Solute Transport for Pulse Type Input Point Source along Temporally and Spatially Dependent Flow

In the present study, analytical solutions are obtained for two-dimensional advection dispersion equation for conservative solute transport in a semi-infinite heterogeneous porous medium with pulse type input point source of uniform nature. The change in dispersion parameter due to heterogeneity is considered as linear multiple of spatially dependent function and seepage velocity whereas seepag...

GRASS GIS: A multi-purpose open source GIS

The GIS software sector has developed rapidly over the last ten years. Open Source GIS applications are gaining relevant market shares in academia, business, and public administration. In this paper, we illustrate the history and features of a key Open Source GIS, the Geographical Resources Analysis Support System (GRASS). GRASS has been under development for more than 28 years, has strong ties...

Volume modeling of soils using GRASS GIS 3D-Tools

The analysis of spatial variability of soils has been of interest to soil scientists and geographers for quite some time. Information on soil properties are usually available from a limited number of point measurements and spatial estimates are prepared in two dimensions (e.g. by interpolation or other technique). However, soil is essentially a 3D object with varying properties in all spatial d...

Modelling of evaporation processes over tilted slopes by means of 3D GRASS raster

The purpose of the present work is to create a tool able to simplify the analysis of atmospheric phenomena in lower atmosphere; with specific application to up-slope winds on sloping terrain and the evaporation of water vapor from the vegetation. Models of atmospheric processes occurring close to the ground and GIS display a point of contact since most of the input variables of lower atmosphere...
